now get back to work! wow, what a nice little 5 day break that was. got to rest, relax, shoot fireworks, swat mosquitos, and splash around with the kids at Richmond lake. WHAT A FIREWORKS SHOW THAT WAS SATURDAY NITE! The best I have ever seen, and I’m a firecracker 3rd of July b-day kid so I’ve seen quite a few. thanks to the Richmond Lake Association and everyone else involved. the only one of us who didn’t enjoy it was…yes, our little 4-legged Leo puppy. I ended up taking him back to the lodge but still had a birds eye view from the window looking east. next up for fun, the Great Aberdeen Pig-Out! Candebox(yes, the 90′s rockers) will perform friday night, Indigenous is the Saturday main act, with I think 19 other bands on 2 stages both days. The girls here at the station are praising the girl group “Sick Of Sarah” so that should also be a great time. Listen to 94.1, and 106.7 for lots of music from the 3 artists I mentioned. I’m now officially the “Leader of the Pack”

…when it comes to our new 5-month old Beagle anyway, that the boys got this past weekend. His name is Leo, and the family is having a great time with him. A very calm, cool, puppy who only barks when he greets you when you get home. (so far) Our walks are going great as he now knows that we (us humans) are the pack leaders. He still pulls Jakey around pretty good, but that’s ok. From what I have studied about this dog breed, they are very simple and easy to care for as long as you establish the ”leader of the pack” theory, and use the most powerful word in a dogs life. NO!

Feels like summer is here hah? not bad today at 81, but 2morrow and Friday, we should be right around 90! We’ll have to watch out for possible strong storms on friday afternoon, but the weekend at this point looks nice. sposed’ to be sunny & 82 Saturday, sunny and 85 on Sunday.

…”time to get to work dad”

…is what Jakey told me last nite when we got home from our Minnesota trip. Dad had a nice day to relax and play with kids. and now “the kids” means 1 more. but this one has 4-legs. Brought home our new 5-month old Beagle yesterday and things are going great. still have not heard him bark! thanks to some great advice on the web, and some great tips from our radio audience, I think we’re going in the right direction. Thanks to Mark M. for letting me know that puppies need to k now who the pack leader is. if not, behavior problems will start to spring up. I’m happy and confident to tell you Mark, Leo now knows that I AM THE PACK LEADER! And it’s very easy so far. just always lead when taking walks and don’t forget the strongest word…NO! hope all you dads had a great weekend. thanks for spending the time you do with your kids!!

fun recipe from last week:

Deer Sausage, potato’s, and cabbage.

In large pot, boil potato’s 10 minutes…add deer sausage(country style)and cook for 10 minutes…add 1 cut up head of cabbage and cook 10 minutes. 10-10&10=pretty easy! Don’t cook the cabbage more than 10 minutes as it takes all the vitamin c away. (I know…vitamiun c in cabbage!)

drain the whole pot, set aside sausage on a platter, add potato’s and cabbage to serving dish and top with butter, salt, and pepper. add red pepper flakes for a little heat. serves 4 easy, using 3 med potato’s, 1 country style sausage ring, and 1 head cabbage. I would have added at least a 1/2 an onion too but didn’t have one. add the onion, and I don’t know how this could be any better. Enjoy!

so, it’s almost the weekend

…and man has this been a fast week. we’re all hoping that those of you who got flooded AGAIN!!!are getting things back to normal. I know the thought of dealing with flooded basements and sewers backing up is enuff to make one seriously ill! the weekend appears to be better for outside activities. hoping for nice sunny sky and maybe some mid-80′s saturday. Don’t forget that the annual Arts in the Park is this weekend at Melgard Park in Aberdeen. Lots of great food, exhibits, craft vendors, and fun stuff for the kids all weekend. other attractions would be the Summer High Point Swim meet at the Aquatic Center. over 400 swimmers will compete, and they’ll bring with them moms, dads, grammas, grammpas, aunts, uncles etc. to the Hub City so treat em’ nice. they’ll be spending A LOT of money in town and we want them back! PBR Bullriding is up in Bismarck this weekend, we do have free tickets while they last. if you want to go, call me on the studio line friday morning at 725-01-03. Races at the Brown County Speedway friday nite…Some of you are maybe heading to Fargo sat. nite for Kenny Chesney/Miranda Lambert/Lady Antebellum @ the Fargo Dome. I wish I was going with you. I’ll b heading home to Minny this weekend with the fam to celebrate fathers day with my dad, plus celebrating my baby brothers 18th b-day. some fun from the Krenz-N-Krew show this morning:

what is this wet substance falling from the sky?

…IT’S RAIN! And much needed rain. early calls to the station this morning had reports of heavy rain between Ipswich and Mina Lake, and VERY heavy rain in Eureka. Got an unconfirmed report of and inch and 95/100′ths as of about 8:30am in Eureka. If you need rain for your crops/garden/LAWN, looks like we’ll have plenty of chances this week with 7 of the 9 day/nite forecasts at least predicting rain. Hope everyone had a great time at Ipswich Trail Days over the weekend, one of the best in recent memory in my opinion. on to this week. Fathers day is Sunday, and we’ll have chances to win dad some cool things this week on our 6 stations, plus, at this point, the forecast looks PERFECT! The ”experts” are predicting sunshine and 80 degrees both saturday and sunday. : 0 )

thanks to my friend Steve G. in ipswich who called and commented on the funniest movie topic. how could I forget “Me, Myself, and Irene”? the scene where he get’s his thumb shot off is for some reason to me one of the funniest scenes ever. Steve got me thinking of Steve Carell. 40 year old virgin, Bruce almighty, 2 definite “cheek hurters” when it comes to laughing. BTW…some radio fun from this morning on Pheasant Country 103.7.

what a hangover!

no, not that kind. took the wife to see “the hangover” for a saturday matinee. awesome flick! Nicki and I tried to remember when we laughed that hard at a movie. she said “meet the parents”, I agreed, but I also had to throw in “Anchorman” as one of my top picks. am I missing one? or two/3/4/5? help me out and comment on your pick for funniest movie ever below. as i write this, it’s sunday morning and I’m AT WORK! not because I have to be, but because we were out of coffee here last week so I brought my can in from home. meaning, no sunday morning coffee at home and that just can’t be. BTW, my perfect recipe for coffee is…and here’s one of those little tid-bits that I love…

RECIPE FOR THE PERFECT CUP OF MORNING SLUDGE:10 CUP COFFEE MAKER=6 TEASPOONS COFFEE GROUNDS. not too strong where it gives you bitter beer face, or turns your entire mouth into cotton, and not too weak to where you might just as well be drinking water. of course tastes vary, and so does coffee. this is a recipe for just plain old Folgers/Maxwell House/etc. BTW…if you’re looking for an inexpensive coffee to grind at home, try “8 O’Clock Coffee” from your local grocery store. almost 1/2 the price of the trendy brands, and better tasting.

It’s the weekend!!

…and I’m sure it couldn’t come soon enuff for some of US! Momma and I will be childless this weekend as gramma is taking them on a weekend trip to Sioux Falls. They can’t wait for the Great Plains Zoo & Chuck-E-Cheese…we can’t wait for some down time and some relaxation. Keep in mind there’s no reason to be bored this weekend. Trail Days in Ipswich looks to be a blast. since I am working saturday morning and won’t be able to play on our mud volleyball team …please cheer on the Hub City Radio crew. Bree-z, Nikki, JK, Rusty, Todd, Bubba, and Tanea? I think she’s coming back for the big event. bring you cameras so you can share them with all of us here on the web. also, don’t forget about family fun weekend at Wylie Park & Storybook Land. starts saturday at 1:30 with the always fun kids fishing derby, you’ll need to sign the kids up at 1@ the Pavilion. there’s great discounts on rock climbing wall, canoes, fun-yaks, and paddleboats, free watermellon feed sunday @ 1:30 in Storybook land, theatre performances at the castle, and a bunch more. if nothing else, crack a couple of cold ones, get the grill and the firepit ready, and let me know when the steaks are ready.
